Thirteen Weeks
Weird how it works, but moved into the second trimester and just automatically not feeling as hungry or tired. But, it's hard not to go lay down when Drew takes his naps because, again, I know I may not be able to do that in the not-too-distant future!
We're both feeling anxious about 'two'. Wondering how we will get it all done. I am going with the belief that we have to let go. Let go of our wants and desires for accomplishing our to-do lists and go with the chaos and anarchy. Live life moment to moment and take what we can when we can. I mean, people have survived having more than two children at one time - we can certainly manage only two. Yes, we can.
I do often think about the every-three-hour breastfeedings all through the night, though. I was so spoiled with Drew, family being here and helping. And then, I often would just doze while he ate during the day and then we'd sleep together on the couch or something. THAT certainly won't happen next time. Well, it's going to happen regardless. Alexis, just remember it won't last forever! Plus! You'll have another darling little one to distract you from most of this.
And, the sex of the baby is probably now defined. Boy? Yay! Girl? Yay!

Fifteen Weeks

Just got back from a lovely time at Walloon Lake in Michigan. We love it up there and hope to one day even live there. Nena, Popa and Uncle Mike: thanks for a lovely time!
I think about Baby #2 often, and wonder what she'll (whoops! I just automatically wrote that - is that a sign?) look like, be like. Was looking at some photos of 15-week old fetuses online and there's one where you can see how perfectly formed the little one is at this point already.
I wonder how she (or he) will change the dynamic of our family. What will she/he contribute? Say? Do? How will our family jive together in the future? I imagine lively talks at dinner and fun outings and events, as well as cozy times watching movies and eating popcorn together. Fun times ahead!

Sixteen Weeks
Can't tell you how much I loathe taking the progress pictures these days. Sure as heck ain't showing my belly this time!
I became aware of a major find this morning! I can easily say that I am now addicted to yard sales (I know, I'm late to the party). Of course, I've been to them before - but this was something different. I went to the National Golf Course Neighborhood sale first thing (Drew was tagging along of course) and we hit pay-dirt! I spent $10 and got him all this stuff! That bin on the left is full of plastic food items, haven't even found the bottom yet. And not pictured is big truck.

There's no need to spend full-price on anything. My thought is to go to the yard sales, stock up on toys for the year or six months or so. Put them away in the closet and every few weeks, pull out something new. The feeling of satisfaction at finding so much for so little is almost akin to euphoria. And the feeling of having something snatched from under your fingers, oh so frustrating! But that's what made the whole thing so fun. Strategy is involved. I see it now - and watch out yard salers - Alexis has entered the ring!
After our shopping, Drew and I headed to the midwife for week 16 checkup. All's well. Nothing to report. Next time, we see the baby for the first time!
