...the soul should always stand ajar, ready to welcome the ecstatic experience. -Emily Dickinson

Baby Number Two (we'll need a better name than that) is on the way!

July 1, 2009

What a wonderful birthday present! As soon as the opportunity presented itself, we took advantage of it and just like that made another baby. It's a little bittersweet because I have enjoyed Drew so much and getting to spend one-on-one time with him. I know things will be a lot different with another little one around. But at the same time, it's healthy for Drew to have a sibling.

At this point, the baby is probably about 4 weeks old. Due in March 2010, I would guess?

It's still a little scary and surreal, but I am far less freaked out this time and really just very happy! I'm excited. I think Andrew is too!

Slowly being reminded of all the things I shouldn't eat, drink or do. But it's good to be doing this sooner rather than later because it is easy to remember those things. And it's easy to go back to that mode, too.

It will also be easy to transition another baby in because we will just leave the nursery as is and move Drew into his own room. We hopefully won't have to purchase too much more, but who knows as nesting sets in again I will probably find lots of reasons to go shopping!

We have told all of the family now, too, except for my Dad. I told my mom and sister on the phone and they were both thrilled - maybe a little surprised. And the Michigan family was excited too. Zeyde will find out Friday on skype...

Also, looked up on due-date-calculater.com for the due date and it is March 3, 2010. Seems far away, but as I have come to learn--it will be here tomorrow.

I definitely feel more attached to this little one at this stage than I did to Drew when he was this teeny. Probably because I know what we have in store for us and I can't wait to meet him/her.

That's another thing, I am less tied to either gender now. I would love to have a girl, for that experience but I love love love my little boy. So if I had another one I would surely be thrilled. So with that, we will leave this child's gender to be a surprise on birth day again. It was a wonderful moment to have Andrew announce that Drew was a boy - and to hear the surprise and excitement in his voice. Can't wait to do that again.
